One of the best ski resorts in Slovenia is located in the Krvavec Mountain in the Kamnik Alps near Cerklje na Gorenjskem, in the Upper Carniola region at the north of Ljubljana. It attracts local and worldwide skiers.
Krvavec
Located at an altitude of1853 meters, Krvavec offers to skiers more than 25 kilometres of ski slopes, many possibilities of accommodation in hotels and daycares for children. With the resort of Kranjska Gora, this is one of the most famous resorts of Slovenia.
20% of the slopes are dedicated to beginner, 60% for medium skiers and 20% for professionals and snowboarders. 12 lifts are available to reach the top and can accommodate up to 13,500 people. Tracks with jumps are specially designed for snowboarders and there are also slopes for sledding. Skiers can also enjoy the fitness centre and solarium. The nightlife is interesting with the many restaurants, bars and nightclubs.
The ski season starts in late November and ends in early May but snow is optimal in February and March.
Krvavec is located only 10 km from the international airport of Ljubljana where you can take a taxi or a bus to reach the destination. The nearest railway station is in Kranj, 17 km away.
Many tourists prefer to stay in the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, which is located only 32 km from Krvavec.
The igloo village
From outside, the igloo village of Krvavec is like a snowdrift, but inside you will find tunnels designed like a labyrinth that connects the large igloos. It is rebuilt every year.
Several types of accommodation are available for visitors: from standard rooms to romantic packages. As the snow is an excellent insulator, the temperature in the village is between 0 and 5 degrees. You will be able to warm up with a hot drink or a sleeping bag.
