When we think about Turkey, the first things that come to mind are the sandy beaches. This country is very attractive for sunny holidays, but what many people don’t know is that Turkey is investing impressive amounts to develop winter tourism. Here are two destinations that should please lovers of this period.

Skiing in Turkey
Uludag

Uludag
Uludag, located in Western Anatolia and about 270 kilometers from Istanbul, is one of Turkey’s most famous ski resorts. You will be able to ski on impressive slopes: some peaks culminate at 2,543 meters like Kara Tepe ones. To get to this ski resort, the easiest way is to reach the town of Bursa which is only 40 kilometers away. From there you will be able to reach the top by bus as shuttles make the trip regularly to allow visitors to enjoy the resort effectively. The skiing season extends from December to April, during which the weather conditions are ideal. You will be able to enjoy 13 tracks of different levels connected by 24 lifts. In terms of accommodation, 27 hotels are available for visitors. You will also be able to relax and enjoy the landscape with the many restaurants and bars in the complex. Do not hesitate to taste the local specialties.
Palandoken

Palandoken
In eastern Turkey and especially in the south of the city of Erzurum you will find the Palandoken ski resort. This resort is known for having served as a training camp for many skiing champions. Erzurum is undoubtedly one of the cities where the snow mostly falls in Turkey since there is the presence of snow about 150 days a year. The highest peak of Mount Palandoken is 3,176 meters high, which is relatively impressive and this explains in particular the presence of very long runs with impressive steep descents. You will be able to benefit from 25 kilometers of tracks linked together by 11 lifts. Like the Uludag resort, the skiing period extends from December to April, when snow falls abundantly. Many hotels will allow you to spend an unforgettable stay since there are even 5 star hotels. To get to this ski resort, the simplest way will be to reach Istanbul; from there you will be able to fly straight to Erzurum. Once arrived at the airport, only about ten kilometers will separate you from the resort. The city center of Erzurum is located only 5 km from the station, so you will be able to visit this city easily thanks to the regular shuttle buses. Do not hesitate to buy a souvenir in the many shops of the city.
